Your account has been stolen or yahoo password is lost
It happens very often to Yahoo users to fall victim to phishing attempts or to lose yahoo accounts after they reveal the password to a “friend”.
If something like this happened to you, or you simply forgot your account password, you can easily recover your account if you previously set an alternate email address or you know the answer to the secret questions.
If your yahoo account has been stolen, is preferable to follow the steps below as soon as possible, before the attacker manages to change your alternate email address or the answers to the secret questions.
Resetting the yahoo password using the alternate email account
If you have set an alternate email to your yahoo account, all you have to do is to go to yahoo mail and click on this link I can not access my account and than select I forgot my password.
If you have set an alternate email to your yahoo account then you can request a password reset using that alternate email.
After reset, in the alternate email box you will receive a link that will allow you to change the password of the yahoo account.
Resetting the password using yahoo secret questions
If you can’t access any of the alternate emails, select the option I can not access Any of the Above.
If you haven’t set an alternate email, you will receive the set of secret questions that you have chosen when you created your yahoo account.
You get two questions, answer each of them carefully.
After giving the correct answers you’ll be able to set a new password for your yahoo account.
Note: If your account has been stolen, once you have recovered the yahoo account, change your secret questions and answers. Also change all the passwords to accounts that are still using your previous stolen password!
