Linkid.js not found in Google Analytics code – 404 errors

QUESTIONS & ANSWERSCategory: WordPressLinkid.js not found in Google Analytics code – 404 errors
BenW asked 4 months ago

in GADWP v 4.9.6.2, the tracking code contains the following reference, which is generating a ton of 404 (Not Found) messages in my log files for a file named “linkid.js”:

ga('require', 'linkid', 'linkid.js');

According to Google, the correct way to use advanced link attribution would be to modify this line to:

ga('require', 'linkid');

Please see: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/enhanced-link-attribution

I am considering simply editing the plugin to make this change; however, wanted to find out if there is any reason linkid.js file is explicitly mentioned in the code?

In any case, I really need to stop all the logging errors, as it is starting to take up valuable limited space on my web server.

Looking forward to hearing soon. And, thanks for an otherwise really great plugin!

Hi,
It’s fixed in GADWP V5, which is at RC2 right now and we’ll be released next week.
