Microsoft Office freeware alternatives (opensource)
There are some Microsoft Office freeware alternatives that are compatible with standard open formats and also with doc, xls and ppt formats.
These freeware are based on open document format and they also have the ability to open and save Microsoft Office well-known formats.
One of these alternatives, which is distributed under the GPL is OpenOffice.org.

IBM Lotus Symphony
The second alternative for office is designed by IBM, is also based on OpenOffice.org kernel, but is closer to the interface of Microsoft Office and provides better support for VBA Macro and OLE objects.
The product is called IBM Lotus Symphony and is offered free of charge by IBM. IBM Lotus Symphony covers only part of the office suite, namely the Spreadsheets, Documents and Presentations.
