Clicky Analytics Review

Clicky Analytics is a web tracking service provided by Roxr Software, which allows users to track their website visitors and to generate web traffic reports.

And yes, I am using Google Analytics and Clicky Analytics at the same time! That’s because Clicky Analytics has some awesome features that you just can’t find or use in Google Analytics.

In this review I will highlight some of the key features that this service provides, some of them not being available in Google Analytics or in similar web tracking services.

Tracking at IP level in real-time

The main benefit of using this Web Analytics service is that you are able to track users at IP level (you can also comply with some countries legislation by using the IP anonymization feature). Usernames and user e-mails can also be attached to a session using Clicky Analytics Custom Tracking.

Clicky Analytics main features and reports

Unlike Google Analytics, Clicky is able to display and generate real-time reports. You will always see the reports, updated on real-time, for the current day.

Visitors Tracking

The visitors report is a cool feature allowing you to view stats like:

Content Report

The content report doesn’t bring new things in Web Analytics field, but we have to mention that downloads are tracked by default (with no additional code to implement) and that YouTube and HTML5 tracking requires only two additional code lines.

Searches Report

Besides usual tracking features there are two cool features, the Engines report (which shows the number of users coming from searches with details for each Search Engine provider) and Rankings report (Google Rankings and SheerSEO Rankings which is able to collect and display rankings from all major Search Engines).

Links Report

Nothing new on these reports, I only want to mention that outgoing links are tracked out of the box (using the standard tracking code) and that a free URL Shorten tool called is provided.

Platforms and Locale

Excepting the fact that you can display a Geo Map for the most recent visitors, these are standard platforms and locale reports, found in any web analytics service.

Campaign and Goals

These are standard marketing features, the setup and reports are similar to Google Analytics marketing features.

Twitter Reports

This is a cool feature that allows you track different keywords on Twitter network and to generate reports about mentions on Twitter.

Uptime Feature

This feature allows users to monitor the website health, being alerted when something goes wrong. Your website is checked every 5 minutes by default.

On-site Analytics and Heatmaps

You can always see the number of visitors and real-time visits for the current page (in a overlay widget) while browsing your own website. Using this widget, at any time, you can enable the heatmap overlay for the current page. To load this widget no additional code snippet is required, it will always load when you are logged into your Clicky account.

Other Features

Alerts will generate a sound, a twitter alert or an email alert when specific visitors are browsing your website.

Traffic filtering enables you to set filters based on IP or by setting a dedicated cookie. You can use filters for almost any report and you can save those filters for future use.

Additional users can also be created and you can give them access to different types of reports.

Big Screen feature will allow you to display basic statistics in fullscreen and the Spy feature will give you real-time insights about what’s happening on your website.

Clicky Web Analytics Plans

Try it now, it’s Free!

CMS integration and Clicky Analytics API

An Analytics API is available, allowing regular users or developers to extract their web traffic data into several formats like: XML, PHP, JavaScript (JSON) and CSV.

With the help of the Analytics API,  custom data (like usernames and e-mails) retrieved from a CMS can be attached to a user session. After collecting it, you will be able to see custom tracking data in your reports.

WordPress Integration

For WordPress users I recommend using the Clicky Analytics WordPress plugin. This plugin inserts the tracking code in all your webpages, is capable of tracking emails and usernames for logged in users and with the help of Clicky Analytics API is able to display the reports on your WordPress administration dashboard.

Joomla Integration

Joomla! fans will need to use one plugin for tracking and one module for displaying reports in their Joomla administration dashboard. While Clicky Tracking Code plugin will insert the needed code in your webpages, the Clicky Analytics Dashboard module will retrieve data through Analytics API and will display it in your Joomla Backend.
