Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is the next generation of Google’s analytics platform, designed to provide a more comprehensive and insightful view of user behavior across multiple devices and channels.
Google Analytics 4 properties have several advantages over Universal Analytics:
- are privacy-focused and durable for the future
- are using machine learning to give insights about the customers across platforms and devices
- provide seamless integrations with Google advertising platforms
This tutorial will guide you through the steps of creating a Google Analytics 4 property and setup a Web Data Stream.
To create a Google Analytics 4 property to a new or existing account follow the steps below.
Create a Google Analytics 4 Property
Go to the Admin section of your Google Analytics account by clicking the gear icon at the bottom-left of your page.

When you go to the Admin section you can choose to create a new account or a new property. If you’re going to create a new Google Analytics property on an existing account, click Create Property button. Otherwise, click Create Account, create the account, and then follow the same steps as above.

Enter your property name, choose the time zone, currency, and then click Next.

On next screen you’ll need to describe your business. Select the business category and size and click Next.

Choose your business objectives and click Create.
Continue by setting up your first Web Data Stream by selecting Web under Choose a platform section.

In the Set up your web stream enter your Website URL and a suggestive Stream Name.
Afterall complete the setup by clicking the Create stream button.

That would be all! If your web platform is WordPress you can use Analytics Insights plugin to start tracking and get traffic reports for your newly created Web Data Stream.
