Error 400 during authorization: redirect_uri_mismatch or invalid_client

April 30, 2017 by Alin Marcu

On this documentation page, you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions about Analytics Insights for WP.

If you have any errors displayed under Analytics Insights -> Errors & Debug, you should start by checking these error codes first.

If you can’t find the right answer, go to WordPress.org support forums and drop a question there. Try to give as many details as possible about your issue.

Error 400 during authorization: redirect_uri_mismatch or invalid_client

You’re receiving these errors because your API Project is not configured properly.

To fix it, try to deselect the enable developer mode option from Analytics Insights -> General Settings screen, before proceeding to authorization.

Regular users should not enable this option. The enable developer mode option allows users to use their own API Projects and should be used by:

  • web developers with advanced API knowledge.
  • websites generating a huge amount of API requests (huge websites/huge networks).
  • other educational purposes.

Please note that your API Project must have access to both Reporting API and Real-Time Reporting API (limited beta). You’ll receive permission errors and the plugin won’t work properly if the API Project doesn’t have access to Real-Time Reporting API.
